This is not about stiff poses or forcing children to sit perfectly still. It is a relaxed, guided session designed to capture genuine expressions, natural connection, and portraits your children can grow up seeing.

How it works
A simple, guided process from booking to choosing your portraits.
Reserve your session → Come to the studio → View your gallery → Only buy if you love them
Children do not need to sit perfectly, and you do not need to know what to do. I will guide you gently throughout.
1. Reserve your session time
Choose a convenient time for your guided family portrait session at The Harrogate Studio.
There is no payment required to book.
2. Come to the studio
Your session will last around 20 minutes, with calm guidance throughout so nobody needs to feel awkward, rushed, or unsure what to do.
3. View your private gallery
After the session, I will edit your images and send you a private online gallery so you can view your portraits at home.
4. Only buy if you love them
There is no obligation to purchase. If you love your portraits, your image options start from £140 for 8 digital images, with options to add more or upgrade to the full gallery.

Some families are happy to choose their favourite digital images and leave it there. That is absolutely fine.
If you love your portraits and would like help turning them into something more tangible, I can guide you through the next steps. That might include choosing the strongest images, deciding which portraits work best together, considering prints for grandparents, or planning framed wall art for your home.
There is no pressure and no hard sell. The session gives you a simple starting point: create the portraits first, then decide what feels right for your family.

What if my children will not sit still?
They do not need to. The session is designed around that.
Children do not need to arrive ready to pose perfectly. In fact, most children do not.
Your session is relaxed, lightly guided, and designed to work with your children rather than against them. I will give simple direction where needed, but I will also look for natural expressions, little connections, and the moments that happen in between.
The aim is not to force stiff smiles. It is to create portraits that feel like your family.
You do not need to know what to do. Your children do not need to perform. I will guide the session.

Important details before booking
Please read these details before choosing your session time. You will be asked to confirm that you have read and understood them when booking.
Pricing
There is no obligation to purchase any images after your session.
If you would like to buy images, the minimum purchase is 8 digital images for £140.
Additional images are £17.50 each, or you can upgrade to the full gallery of 20+ digital images for £245.
All prices are in GBP. I am not VAT registered, so no VAT is added.
Delivery
Your images will be edited and delivered in a private online gallery within 14 days of your session.
Your gallery will remain available for 7 days from the date it is sent to you, giving you time to view your portraits at home and choose your favourites. Any image purchases should be made during that time.
Once payment has been made, purchased digital images will be available to download from the gallery.
Prints may also be purchased separately through the online gallery. If you would like help choosing portraits for prints or gifts for grandparents, I can guide you after you have seen your gallery.
Cancellation
There is no payment required in advance.
If you need to cancel, please let me know as soon as possible so your session time can be made available to another family.
Usage rights
Copyright remains with Dick Lloyd Photography.
Your purchased digital images are yours to enjoy for personal use.
You are welcome to print them, share them with family, and display them at home.
Please do not edit, apply filters, sell, or use them for commercial purposes without prior written permission.
Use of images by Dick Lloyd Photography
Unless agreed otherwise in writing before the session, Dick Lloyd Photography may use images from the session for portfolio, website, social media, and marketing purposes.
If you would prefer your images not to be used in this way, please just let me know before the session.
